Oklahoma’s finest young musicians will play next to some of the world’s greatest professional musicians for a thrilling celebration of OK Mozart Festival’s 30th Anniversary. Jon Kimura Parker will join Amici New York orchestra for a performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20, one that Beethoven admired above all others.

An Okie Songwriter’s Showcase featuring
John Moreland, Wink Burcham and John Calvin

The fourth annual FnL’s Sunday concert features three of Oklahoma’s best songwriters. John Moreland, Wink Burcham and John Calvin are all gaining notoriety throughout the Midwest for singing and writing honest songs that burrow to the core of the Okie Spirit. A few special guests are likely to add accompaniment throughout the evening.

As has come to be expected, Adam Gilbert and the kitchen mechanics will create unique, tasty appetizers unlike anything found on the already fantastic menu. Great eats and a selection of beer and wine are included in the ticket price.

The dynamic Miró Quartet, one of America’s highest-profile chamber groups, was founded at Oberlin Conservatory. A favorite at numerous summer festivals, they continue to captivate audiences and critics around the world with their startling intensity and fresh perspective. They serve as the Faculty String Quartet-in-Residence at the Sarah & Ernest Butler School of Music at the University of Texas, Austin. Jon Kimura Parker will be joining Miró Quartet to perform some of the most beloved chamber music for piano and strings.

Characters of Mozart’s enchanting opera “The Magic Flute” have charmed audiences all over the world. Locally, Amici New York and the Bartlesville Choral Society will perform a 90-minute semi-staged version in English for family enjoyment as arranged and conducted by OKM artistic director, Constantine Kitsopoulos. The performance will feature singers selected from throughout Oklahoma.

Family Workshops at Hopestone Cancer Support Center
with Tawny Saddoris

A community volunteer with a passion for the arts, Tawny Saddoris will work with children and their adults on a music-inspired art piece in a fun, creative environment where the “student” will learn a about the connection between the artist and the music that inspired their work.

Thursday - Pottery Glazing - 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Students will choose a music-inspired piece of bisque-ware to paint. Each piece can be painted to take home after the class or left at Hopestone to be “fired”. Pieces being “fired” will be ready for pick-up in about a week.

Saturday - Side-by-Side Painting - 9:30 am to noon

Students, both children and their adults will create an acrylic on canvas painting based upon an impressionist work of art. This workshop will be enjoyed and appreciated by both children and adults.

All supplies are included in the workshops. Hopestone Cancer Support Center is located at 120 SE Frank Phillips Blvd

Glass Mansion Lunch and
Concert at First Presbyterian, Nowata

First Presbyterian Church and the Nowata Historical Society hosts an afternoon of music, history and lunch. The event begins at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church (208 W. Delaware), for a special musical performance by the Midwest Tulsa Harp Ensemble Trio composed of a Harp, Violin and Oboe. They will play classical and popular selections. Tour the historic church, founded in 1887 and the “Little Prayer Chapel”, added in 1967. The breathtaking stained glass window in the Little Prayer Chapel is from France and was created in the 1590’s and is one of the oldest stained glass windows in Oklahoma.

Delicious box lunches will be served in the garden at the beautiful Glass Mansion, just a short walk from the church. Tour the Glass Mansion, then wander down to the Nowata Historical Society Museum for a trip through the fascinating past of Nowata Oklahoma.

with Dr. Stephen Goforth

With more than 35 years-experience entertaining audiences Dr. Stephen Goforth is back with an amazing array of trumpets – at least 18 will be played in this program! Brilliant accompanying by Dolores McCreary completes the ensemble in the magnificent sanctuary of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, with styles covering the span of music history. All the selections have been tried and proven for a wide age group. The interactive and often humorous format is most suitable for a comfortable yet quick-paced concert of two halves. At the conclusion the audience is always encouraged to visit with Dr. Goforth more about the most thought-provoking and inspiring instruments and music from some of the most significant in music history. For most attendees this will definitely be the broadest and most educational variety of instruments and musical styles used in one setting by one artist. A brilliant and certainly fun way to complete much of a terrific week of experiencing the arts!
